After learning that there is an option for municipalities to opt out of having cannabis dispensaries once Federal laws change in July, Moose Jaw City Council will debate what to do Monday night.

While very little has been released by the province regarding the Saskatchewan laws for marijuana, what has been released is that there are two retail permits that have been earmarked for Moose Jaw.  In that same announcement, it was revealed that a community has the power to prevent retail outlets from setting up shop.  It was an interview with Mayor Fraser Tolmie that prompted the current debate in Moose Jaw when he said he doesn't support recreational use of cannabis and wanted to get a feel from the community over dispensaries being located here.

Monday at 10am is the deadline to let city hall know that you'd like to make a presentation Monday night, either for or against dispensaries.  Written submissions had to be into city officials last week.
