Moose Jaw North now has an NDP member in the riding for the upcoming election.

Corey Atkinson was chosen to represent the New Democratic Party, and explained to us what he wants to focus on during his campaign.

"In addition to healthcare, we also have a proud tradition here of having local members being a part of cabinet. We don't have that right now with the Sask Party," said Atkinson. "We have a very small, limited voice in what we have here in Moose Jaw with regards to the big decisions that are going on. So we need to be front and center in Moose Jaw, and we need to have a stronger voice when decisions are being made."

One of the focuses of Atkinson is improving our health care. Atkinson said that he feels this is a major area that needs improvement.

"Well, I see a lot of things in this riding that I think need to be improved. First of all, the health care. We had some issues with the hospital that's being built, with the hyperbaric chamber, have it not being a part, having it being a part now. There's just so many issues in regards to health care, seniors care, and with kids that we need to have addressed. We need to have a strong voice in Regina at the Legislature."

Atkinson has worked previously in the media, and he explained that he feels he would be able to communicate strongly the messages that are coming from the people of Moose Jaw to the government.
