Moose Jaw is getting more then a new coat paint here and there this summer. Infrastructure and road construction has begun to transform the city into a brighter area for locals and tourists alike.

The construction includes several different projects, such as new sidewalk curbs, pavement of street, and the new buildings to house different businesses.
Construction equipment and workers are becoming a common sight in the Friendly City.

Mayor Deb Higgins said that these improvements came about after finding ways to repair streets and areas that were in dire need of it.

"Lots of changes happened over the last little while, (and) the number of years. We've got some new folks that have come in with some very good organizational... and planning skills at City Hall".

Higgins said that there have been 7 different contractors, along with construction crews, employed with the city this year to help bring these changes about.

Higgins also mentioned that costs have gone up 2016 to over $18 million for infrastructure in the city, but that it is money well spent as Moose Jaw is turning a corner in it's accessibility and maintenance, and that so much has been put to the side in years past has finally gotten underway or done.

Lots has been done, but more construction and renovation efforts are still on the way.

"A contract was just signed and sealed yesterday (August 25th) for more sidewalk and curb repair..., we've still got a number of dips and bigger patches that still need to be down in certain areas... But the crews are working hard and we're seeing some really good results this year".
