It may take a little longer to reach your destination if travelling to the lake this long weekend.

The Government of Saskatchewan stated that more than 21 million dollars worth of highway construction work is underway around provincial parks.

Highways around provincial parks undergoing construction include Highways 2, 4, 11, 21, 322, and 913.

The work being done on Highway 2 is just north of Moose Jaw near Buffalo Pound, where crews are re-surfacing the stretch of road.

"Saskatchewan is home to some of the most beautiful lakes and parks Western Canada has to offer. These construction projects will make the drive to and from the lake both safer and smoother," Highways and Infrastructure Minister David Marit said in a release on Friday.

With heavy highway traffic expected, they also remind the public to obey speed limit signs and slow down to 60 km/h while passing through construction zones.
