It wasn't us.  That's the response from Moose Jaw City Hall as downtown Moose Jaw is transformed into a massive concert venue for the One Horse Town show Friday evening.  But the spectacle has been less than well received by some members of the business community.

We've told you about the lack of communication already with businesses who showed up on Tuesday morning to find access to their stores blocked as the stage was set up.  The city acknowledged the problem stemmed from organizers still making plans as late as Monday afternoon, hours before the fences and concrete blocks were put into place.

But now the city is trying to get out in front of rumours that they were telling businesses to close their stores by 5pm Friday to allow for the concert to go ahead.  Some staff with the city saw posts on social media questioning why the directions were being given.

Parks and Recreation Director Ted Schaeffer says the orders didn't come from the city. "That wasn't issued by the city so we wanted to put out a bit of a press release to indicate that downtown businesses don't have a requirement to close at 5 o'clock on Friday because of the event."

So then where did the story come from?  Some posts started to show up as early as Tuesday that business would be losing sidewalk access to their properties and that they would have to close.  Schaeffer believes it might be a misunderstanding.

"We do realize that there are some businesses downtown that are quite close to the event and One Horse Town had conversations with some of those businesses and made some arrangements so that may have possibly been the source of some of the confusion."

Schaeffer noted that he's pleased Moose Jaw residents worked so hard to have the concert held here and hopes with the national coverage on television it encourages more visitors to make their destination our city.
