Co-op released exciting news when it announced that it will be opening a new pharmacy in partnership with the Hillcrest Medical Group.

It will be one of the largest pharmacies in the Co-op retailing system and will be able to stock items not typically found at most pharmacies.

The new building, located right beside the new Hillcrest Health Medical Centre that opened earlier this year, is approximately 12,500 square feet. With the pharmacy to take up 5,100 of that, representatives of the Co-op say they'll be able to offer more than just pharmaceuticals.

"Not only are we going to have a pharmacy, but we're also going to have a nice injection room, a big counselling room, plus we're going to be promoting a lot of our 'Active Health' section of the pharmacy," said Co-op pharmacist, Dwight Gulutzan.

The new pharmacy will eventually share the building with Eastside Audiology and Rehabilitation. Bill Elliott, president of Moose Jaw Physical Rehab and Hillcrest Health Centre said that will take up another 2,000 square feet, and discussions are underway with three or four other organizations.

"The building will be leased fairly soon," said Elliott.

The Moose Jaw Co-op Pharmacy is set to open in March, 2020.
