With the warmer temperatures Moose Jaw has experienced over the past couple of weeks, the potholes have become numerous on streets and roads.

The City is once again offering their Pothole Hotline at 306-694-4550, which is monitored for messages about potholes brought to the City’s attention.

Depending on the nature of the pothole, the response will be different based on the severity of the pothole, where it is and the weather conditions.

They will do gravel and grade for gravel roads and temporary construction surfaces, asphalt millings instead of gravel to provide a stronger and durable surface, cold mix for hard surfaces to provide a temporary fix that is susceptible to water, and a hot mix once the road base has fully thawed and dried. The result of the hot mix will be a smooth, finished surface.

The City will also keep a close eye on the repaired water main breaks that happened over the winter. Backfill won’t be compacted properly during freezing and in the spring, those will fail.
