City plows are working full steam to keep our streets clear, as this winter has seen a considerable amount of snow. And with that, Snow Routes are now in effect in Moose Jaw.

Crews would like to remind residents that during this time parking is not allowed on streets marked with a Snow Route sign, and that if you do it will result in a ticket or your vehicle being towed.

City Engineer Josh Mickelborough says clearing has gone pretty smoothly so far this winter.

"Of course last year ended on a big snow storm and congestion as a result. Certainly this year we are happy with the response. The last few weeks have been challenging with the amount of snow and how it's been arriving, and of course the extreme cold."

Mickelborough says the extreme wind chills have resulted in one plow breaking down, but that they are always keeping safety in mind.

"Safety is a concern at those temperatures. It's hard on equipment and people. We try and strike that balance in making sure we are out there keeping the roads safe, but not putting the staff or equipment in jeopardy."

Snow Routes will be in effect until further notice and will remain in effect until the snow has been graded from the respective streets and roads.

"We just appreciate peoples patients and of course with the latest fall here we just ask people to keep the streets clear to allow operations to proceed."
