A program from the Public Transit Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure program will see $6 million in federal money going to various projects in the city, including the water main replacement program.

After some debate as to where the money would be going, city council approved $2.9 million of the federal money to the city’s water main replacement program, $2.1 million for the city’s transit program that will go to buses and shelters, and $1 million to supplement four city facilities to go to solar power.

In addition to the money allocated from this year, the city gave administration approval to pursue expressions of interest to apply for other streams of funding, including $16 million for the high service reservoir and pump house, and $3.75 million for the outdoor aquatic facility in the community culture and recreation stream.
