The Government of Saskatchewan has announced that there will be access to licensed child care services for those returning to work in Phase One and Two of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.

The child care centres will continue to operate within guidelines provided by Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Saqib Shahab. This includes a maximum of eight children per room and increased sanitization measures.

School-based child care facilities were closed last month, but 2,100 spaces continued to operate as part of a reserve for pandemic response workers. There will now be capacity in these facilities for other workers.

There are 47 centres operating as part of the reserve including the YMCA Create N Learn and the YMCA Grow N Learn in Moose Jaw and 350 non-school based child care centres.

Application forms for in-school child care centres are available at www.saskatchewan.ca/covid19-childcare.
