The sport of Cheer has taken off in the Friendly City over the last number of years.

One of the local groups, Cheer Infinity Athletics, is hosting their 3rd Annual Open House.

Melissa Marzolf is a co-owner with the group and she discussed what you can expect to see at the Open House on Monday, August 20th.

"We have demos that will be going on throughout the evening. As well, coaches will be available throughout the whole time there, to have the kids try out a stunt or try some tumbling, do a little dance, if they want to see what it's like if they have never done it before. So lots of chances for returning athletes to get back into the swing of things and new ones to try out all of the different activities."

Marzolf also notes that this event is an amazing opportunity for perspective and current athletes to come together.

"This is our third annual Open House. Every year we like to have an open house - it's a great chance for our returning athletes to come back, see their friends that they have missed over the summertime. [It's also] an opportunity for new family and friends to check out our facility, meet our coaches and see what Cheer Infinity is all about."

The Cheer season is also quite a commitment comparable to that of hockey or dance, especially with how the team develops throughout the year, according to Marzolf.

"We are getting ready to start season three in two weeks here, and it runs from the end of August until April. So from September too December we kind of learn skills and put our routines together, and then January to April we have competitions across Saskatchewan and Alberta that we go to."

Cheer Infinity has grown over their three years as they now offer classes for kids ranged age 3-18 in Pom, Cheer, Dance and Tumbling.

The Open House is this Monday 5-8 PM at the Alliance Church Gym.
