Less than a week after 6-year-old Emma O'Keeffe, the North Battleford girl who was at the center of an Amber Alert was found, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit North, with assistance from North Battleford RCMP, North Battleford Provincial General Investigative Section (GIS), North Battleford Municipal GIS, and Saskatoon Provincial GIS have already arrested and charged a suspect in relation to alert.

Emma was left sitting in the back of her mother's running SUV Sunday night when an unknown person stole it. She was found 6:45 the next morning unharmed.

RCMP viewed hundreds of hours of surveillance footage from over 200 businesses to follow the stolen vehicle's movements, which lead to the arrest of 19-year-old Johnathan Ryann Gunville of North Battleford.

A number of charges were laid involving the September 16th abduction and two other vehicle thefts on the 19th and 20th.

Charges stemming from the alert include the abduction of a person under 14, unlawful confinement, and abandoning a child.

As for the number of vehicle thefts, he faces two dangerous operation of a motor vehicle charges, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, evading a police officer, two counts of driving while disqualified, and eight charges of failing to comply with a probation order.

Gunville will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Monday morning.
