Last September the staff and students at Central Collegiate High School, along with the community of Moose Jaw, felt heartbreak after they learned the news of Scott Williamson passing away

Williamson was the past principal for the local school and passed away in the fall due to cancer. He impacted many people within the education sector and beyond during his many years of teaching and being a leader in the local school division.

This devotion was one of the main reasons why they host a concert in his honour each year. This past Tuesday evening the 2nd annual Scott Williamson Tribute Concert took place in downtown Moose Jaw on the Mae Wilson stage.

"I think it's nice to have a summit of realization of all the work we've done all year long, but this concert is also a memorial for our former Principal Scott Williamson and a fundraiser for one of our students Jacob Lesperance who is battling cancer," explained Paul McCorriston, Musical Director at Central Collegiate.

Those who knew Williamson were able to see first hand the passion he had for the arts, and how strongly he felt that students show have access to arts programs.

"Music was his huge love in life, and I think if we can carry on his spirit while we're singing and have a smile on our face while we're thinking of him I think that's really special," said Grade 12 student, Jaidyn Geini. "I think it's really important because it's such a huge part of people's lives and people can find happiness in the music. It's really great to show people's talents and passions through music."

Last year the funds raised from the year-end tribute concert went into a student scholarship in Williamson's name. But with one of his former students battling cancer, Williamson's family asked that the money be donated to the Lesperance family.
