With cannabis now legal nationwide but dispensary permits in low numbers, many are trying to figure out how to cash in on the newly changed laws. Tourism numbers are sure to see a bit of increase and all you have to do is look at past experiences.

Tourism Moose Jaw Executive Director Jackie L'Heureux Mason is expecting to see an increase to the Friendly City's numbers because of the change.

"We did quite a bit of research and checking out how things worked in Colorado when they legalized it and they saw a tremendous growth," said L'Heureux Mason. "Based on government predictions, I don't see why Saskatchewan would be any difference."

While she said they won't be focusing on the cannabis industry while trying to attract visitors to the city, L'Heureux Mason says she's excited to have another potential selling feature for international visitors who are considering coming here.

"I think it's tremendously exciting," continued L'Heureux Mason. "When you look at the opportunity, this is a brand new form of tourism that could open up."
