With the Writ officially dropping Tuesday, campaigning is underway across the province, and city, as parties work to urge residents for their votes.

Local lawyer Tim McLeod will be running for the Sask Party in Moose Jaw North, looking to fill the big shoes left behind by former MLA, Warren Michelson.

McLeod talks about how working on the Prairie South School Board might help when it comes to potentially working as an MLA.

"As a school board trustee, you really get a sense of governing as a team and taking the feedback you get from your constituents, and working together collaboratively with the people around the table."

And what issues have McLeod been hearing about while campaigning?

"Economic recovery seems to be on the forefront of everyone's mind, and I think locally folks just want to make sure that the city of Moose Jaw is well represented in the legislature, and that's definitely something I'm hoping I can do."

Mcleod will be running in Moose Jaw North against NDP candidate Kyle Lichtenwald, and North Hunter, daughter of Green Party leader Naomi Hunter, is running for that party.

Running in the Moose Jaw Wakamow riding is Sask Party incumbent Greg Lawrence. Lawrence was first elected in 2011 and talks about how Moose Jaw has benefitted over the last nine years.

"There's a lot of stuff that we've done for the city; we've increased funding to the city by 172%, we've built a new hospital, we've announced the new powerplant, we've announced the new school on south hill."

And what is Lawrence telling residents while going door-to-door?

"It's all about getting out there and making sure people know our message, which is 'Building a Strong Saskatchewan for Strong Families.'".

Lawrence will be running in Moose Jaw Wakamow against NDP candidate Melissa Patterson. Local health care aid Abby Firlotte is representing the Green Party.
