Are you ready to vote? Some have already cast their ballots in the city by-election but for the rest, Wednesday is the big day.

Returning Officer Tracey Witke is hoping for a good turnout after seeing solid numbers from the advanced polls.

"Polls open at 9 am and close at 8 pm. As the results come in, we will be having them on the screens in council chambers," said Witke. "Anyone from the public is welcome to come join us and watch the results come in."

Officials expect results to start popping up on the screen within about 15 minutes but there's no word on when a winner could be announced.

Four candidates are running for council, Mike Bachiu, Heather Eby, Steven White and Doug Blanc with three candidates for the Holy Trinity Catholic School Board, Christine Boyczuk, Alison Bradish and Teri-Ann Metz.
