"Keeping your grey matter sparkling is easier than one might think", states the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association.

BrainLove is in partnership with the provincial organization and the Saskatchewan Royal Purple Association. The goal is to encourage the public to learn about the human brain and making the health and safety of your own brain the number one priority during Brain Health Awareness Month in March.

Glenda James, executive director of the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association says the whole organization wants to start seeing people really take care of their brain. In addition to paying attention to your overall health, she says wearing protection like helmets when doing any kind of physical activity and following safety proto-calls at the workplace are important in head injury prevention.

"Your brain is like the command center, if you will, of the body so if the brain's not working then neither will anything else in your body," explains James.

"We are also asking people to keep their brains healthy by protecting them, whether that be wearing a helmet or whether that be just using some care and attention following all the safety rules you've learned at work or at school. Just being really cautious about protecting your head," James added.

All funds raised throughout the BrainLove Campaign will be used to support those living with brain injuries and their families, as well as supporting prevention programs, hoping to reduce the incidence of brain injury.

Fundraisers are expected all across Saskatchewan through the month of March.
