It was on this day, February 13th, 1948, that one local woman has fresh in her mind, more specifically she remembers the amount of snow that moved into our city.

Clara Puddell gave birth to her daughter Carol in Moose Jaw after making the trip from her farm near Tuxford which is just north of Moose Jaw. However, she couldn't get back home due to the fact all the roads were blocked with heavy snow following her delivery.

"We didn't get home until March though, Carol was born on the 13th of February but we didn't home until the 1st of March because of the bad roads," explained Puddell.

Puddell and her newborn baby took matters into their own hands and found another mode of transportation that didn't require attempting to plow through snow banks.

"We wanted to come home, so we got a plane to take us home."

After Carol heard her mom on 800 CHAB on Wednesday wishing her a 'Happy Birthday' during the morning show with Rob Carnie, she discovered some momentos the family kept from 71 years ago. It's a photo of their scrapbook where they have a photo of the airplane and the ticket they bought for $10.00 to fly from Moose Jaw to Tuxford.
