Summer time in Saskatchewan can be very unpredictable when it comes to the weather but it can also be dangerous.  With a tornado this week along with several funnel clouds, Moose Jaw's Emergency Measures Coordinator, Brian Wilson, wants everyone to be prepared.

Wilson says reacting to weather, instead of preparing for it, can often get you into trouble.

"Often what happens in these types of events is there's very little warning. The more prepared we can be now leads us to be able to be responsive when we get those warnings, and you may only have a matter of seconds or a minute. So being aware of those types of things and having a plan in place, at least in the back of your mind, will help you react if something were to ever happen.

One of the main tips is to be weather aware, know the forecast and subscribe to weather alerts that will let you know when severe weather is on the way.

The Saskatchewan government announced a new SaskAlert weather app yesterday that you can download on your mobile so that you can be up to date for the latest in weather and severe storm warnings.
