Harvest means that there's lots of heavy equipment moving along highways and roads, but it's not just the farmers behind the wheel that need to be safe and aware of surroundings.

"For people that are driving on rural roads, be patient when you're following the large equipment." said Community Relations Coordinator for the Saskatchewan Safety Council Terri Kerbrat. "Don't be in such a hurry that you put yourself in danger by pulling around to pass. Be aware of the direction that they may be turning and that large equipment takes a wider berth in order to be able to get around a corner."

Kerbrat says operators should also make sure that their equipment is in transport mode when driving and plan out their route ahead of time so they can avoid any unnecessary obstacles.
