We may still be more than three months away from Christmas but the spirit of giving was more then evident this past Saturday at the annual Moose Jaw Toy Run.

Murray Roney is the president of the Moose Jaw Cycle Association and he told DiscoverMooseJaw that even with a slightly smaller turnout than some years the numbers were still good.

"The turnout this year was a little down from past years.  We had some rain and some other stuff going on that has taken away people, but the people who are here are very generous and gave lots".

Although the association has never kept hard numbers over the years, they do know that the volume of toys donated has been impressive.

"People will bring two, three or four toys.  We've had 300 bikes some years, and 200 on others, but it's been a big pile of toys"

Major Dan Broom of the Salvation Army was very pleased with the day.

"These donations are extremely important.  Without these donations we would not be able to provide Christmas presents for a lot of needy families in Moose Jaw.  This is kind of the unofficial kickoff to Christmas".
