The Moose Jaw Humane Society's annual '4 Paws Lotto' is underway once again, raising money to help the shelter pay for vet expenses.

Executive Director of the Humane Society, Dana Haukaas, says last year they sold out of tickets, and this year is trending in the same direction.

"There's a limited number of tickets, 1,700 in total and we're already about half sold out," says Dana, "We will be selling them right up until the end of July, but if you want to make sure you get in on all of those $500 prize draw days, you'll want to make sure you have your tickets before July 3rd.

"Every Saturday in July there will be a prize draw, and those will be the $500 draw days. Anybody whose ticket is drawn from those draws will still be eligible to win the $10,000 grand prize on July 31."

Tickets cost $20 for one, $50 for three, or $75 for five and can be purchased by e-transfer to Giving@MJHS.ca, over the phone with a credit card, or you can book a time to stop by the shelter with a cheque.

If you buy your tickets through e-transfer, make sure to include your name, phone number, and address so that you can be contacted if you win.

Vet expenses are the most expensive aspect of day-to-day operations at the Humane Society, especially now that they have somewhat expanded what animals they take in. Currently, they are housing dogs and cats as usual, but now also have rabbits, guinea pigs, a hamster, and even an orange-winged amazon parrot.
