Moose Jaw and area has been subject to some thunderstorms as of late, and one weather analyst has the scoop with how long that may last.

Blaine Lowry, a Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, said that the area might see some overcast in the week ahead.

"We're still going to be under this slightly unstable air mass. [There is a] chance of showers kind of in the late afternoon, late evening hours most days this week."

In regards to the recent frequency of thunderstorms in the region, Lowry said the humid airmass overhead could continue to light up your phones with severe thunderstorm watches and warnings.

Heading into this week, hot and humid conditions that lead to the unstable mass called an upper trough are expected to dissipate, potentially allowing the common threat of thunderstorms to become less frequent.

This type of weather system is common in the mid-June to August period.

Lowry said that in the event of a thunderstorm watch or warning, keep an eye peeled to both weather resources and the skies to stay safe in an emergency situation.
