Jamie McDonald, better known as Adventureman to some, is an author, adventurist, runner, cyclist and motivational speaker. If that isn't already an impressive resume, he also is a world record holder with his own charity.

Recently, McDonald made an impromptu at Palliser Heights during his book tour this past Friday to talk to students about his life, his fundraising run across Canada, and why you should always keep going.

The reason McDonald came to Palliser is that he is currently on a book tour, talking about his travels from one side of Canada to next and motivating the kids to never give up and keeping pushing forward.

"Its to give back to the hospital that helped me out. As a kid I had rare spinal condition called syringomyelia, and so symptoms, as a kid, I sometimes couldn't move my legs," McDonald explained. "But my mom, she put a string in the back yard and just got me moving and I was just nine years old and I got this massive love for moving and with a lot of help from the hospital I got my health."

After doing many other fundraising events, McDonald decided to make his way to Canada, running from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean, raising money for his charity, the Superhero Foundation, and the Jim Pattison Hospital. Getting tons of help from Canadians across the country. Now, McDonald get to drive across Canada, talking about his journey and inspiring youth in schools.

"Its just an amazing experience. I'm out here, I actually paid really well to be motivational speaking all around the world but I'm actually doing this trip [for free] and I'm volunteering my time, I'm not earning from it," McDonald said. "Its really just to visit all the schools and connect with the people that helped through during my run across Canada because I want to say thank you."

Students at Palliser loved hearing his stories and how McDonald was able to overcome his illness and raise hundreds of thousands for children charities. Palliser even donated $250 to the Superhero Foundation.
