Canada Post has resumed mail delivery to the 500 block of Laurier Street, following service suspension after a Canada Post employee was shot with a pellet gun on April 16.

Staff Sgt Taylor Elder with the Moose Jaw Police Service says the case has been resolved.

"The subject has turned themselves in and we have charged an adult male with assault with a weapon and mischief. They've been released for court at a later date. Based on the fact that this person has turned themselves in, I do appreciate that, and I feel like they know they made a mistake."

No motivation for the attack was provided, and service has resumed as of Wednesday.

"You can't shoot off a pellet gun or air gun within the city limits of Moose Jaw," says Elder. "Some pellet guns are even verging on the range of being classified as a firearm based on how many feet-per-second the projectile is shot. People need to be aware just how powerful their pellet gun is because they could be charged with discharging a firearm within the city which is a criminal charge."

Canada Post said in a release that they thank customers for their patience as they ensured the health and safety of their employees.
