You could be voting in a new riding in the next provincial election in Saskatchewan.

New electoral boundaries were announced in 2013 and now, four months ahead of the next election, local candidates are reminding you to be aware of the shift.

"They're (new boundaries) based on the population changes in Saskatchewan," said Moose Jaw Wakamow MLA Greg Lawrence, who acknowledged that his riding will now be primarily urban.  It used to extend several kilometres south of Moose Jaw, but will now have its southern tip end at 15 Wing Moose Jaw.  In addition, Lawrence says he'll be campaigning to Moose Jaw voters that had previously been in the Moose Jaw North constituency.

"We take over the trailer courts and east end up to Highway #1, and on the west side we come up to (Highway)#1 and Iron Bridge...all of that new development will be in the riding."

As for Moose Jaw North MLA Warren Michelson, he won't have quite as much pavement to pound, saying his riding "hasn't changed that much."

On the Elections Saskatchewan website, they called the changes a "step forward for Saskatchewan on its path for renewal and professionalized electoral event preparations....it brings Saskatchewan in line with other jurisdictions and international electoral best practices."
