The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed Access to Justice Week will be taking place in Saskatchewan.

The purpose of the week is to inform people about their rights when it comes to the different aspects of the justice system.

The proclamation was made by Justice Minister and Attorney General Don Morgan, who said that justice is an empowering part of our society.

"Access to justice is one of the fundamentals of a free and democratic society," Morgan said in a written release. "We are pleased to support many initiatives that help empower our citizens through increased access to justice."

There are a number of events planned during the week which started on Saturday, such as a legal resources fair in Saskatoon, a walk-in wills and estates information clinic in Saskatoon, and a walk in family law information clinic in Regina.

In the same written release as Morgan's comments, it is written that the Saskatchewan Government is looking at ways of ensuring the public has access to reliable advice about legal issues.

The release also said that one such way of getting reliable advice was getting unbundled legal services, asking a lawyer to only perform specific tasks and only paying for requested tasks.
