The 10th Annual Family First Radiothon was a huge success, with people from all walks of life coming out or phoning in their donations.

It was held at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, and was hoping to raise $150,000 to finishing paying off the new hyperbaric chamber unit, as well as pay for other state of the art equipment for the hospital.

The radiothon surpassed it's target goal of $150,000 with their final count of $173,680 for the Moose Jaw Health Foundation.

One of the final major donations that set the total over the top was made on behalf of the Al Fox estate, who was an avid donator to the Radiothon during his lifetime. Moose Jaw Health Executive Director Kelly McElree made the announcement just before the end of the fundraiser.

"Al's really a cornerstone of the community, and spent many years in different service organizations, and really and honestly contributed to many things. And made the community a better place. And his legacy continues to do that today at the radiothons."

The Silver Moose Philanthropy Award was also handed out during the fundraiser. The recipient was Ken Hawkes who supported and volunteered at the Radiothon for all of its ten years.

"I'm touched by all this," said Ken Hawkes, "and all the support I've gotten throughout the community for this ten years. It's just been incredible. Working with great people, and that's on both sides of the house here. Definitely working with you good folks at CHAB has been incredible, it's been a solid thing...to help me to get this accomplished every year. It's been a challenge some years, but absolutely the best people in the world here."
