Anyone who has driven the streets of Moose Jaw knows that, each year after the snow melts, we are plagued with potholes.

And with every summer season, City of Moose Jaw crews are out and about fixing pot holes, making patches, spreading fresh asphalt and giving some much needed T.L.C. to our roads.

Not only is it a headache for residents, but also for those who work at City Hall according to our Mayor Fraser Tolmie.

"I took our assistants out for lunch the other day; they've been working really hard and we've been short-staffed," explained Tolmie. "I was (also) walking with the new City Manager, we saw something on Main Street and I said 'I'm tired of looking at this.' He took a picture and honest to God the next day, they had a paving crew down there the next day and it was getting fixed. That's what I love to see."

"We've been really active, we've got 786 potholes repaired to date, 16 excavation repairs to date which is good," said Tolmie.

But it's not just about the smell of fresh asphalt. There's plenty of other work that happens over the summer months that crews having been picking away at.

"Street sweeping program is 75% complete which is pretty good, line painting program is 50% complete, and lane grading is 30% complete so there's going to be more work to do there, and obviously talking about High Street and 13th, so we're seeing some work getting done around the city."

Along with local roads, highways have also been getting a face lift and recently officials said crews were wrapping up current highway projects and moving on to some new work around southern Saskatchewan.
