The Saskatchewan Health Authority has reached its first goal in returning redeployed health care staff to their home positions.

Fifty per cent of the eligible staff were returned by Nov. 12. These staff members were redeployed for COVID-19 contact tracing, testing, and other services except for ICU and acute care.

Some services are now able to resume after being slowed down during the redeployment in September.

“As a result, 129 of 374 services slowed since Sept. 1 have been resumed, and 51 services have been partially resumed,” said Marlo Pritchard, president of the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.

Pritchard also gave an update on surgery slowdowns.

“Although this can change, we can report that zero critical care surgeries were postponed or delayed last week,” he said.

The SHA’s next goal is to have 75 per cent of eligible staff members return to their home positions by Friday.

These targets and resumption of the associated services are now available in a progress report.
