Five days to the new year, and this is our fifth top story of the year for Moose Jaw.

This story doesn't finish with 2015 but there was a lot of chatter regarding the Syrian Refugees.

As part of a federal campaign promise to accept 25-thousand Syrians into Canada, four Saskatchewan communities are accepting refugees.

Those four communities are Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert and our very own friendly city.

"We have a very high success rate in people finding and retaining work. It's a challenge to begin with but people want to work and (are) willing to work", says Stefanie Palmer Executive Director of the Multicultural Council. "I think that's an important piece to bring across to everyone that its a willingness to work and want to contribute that kinda sticks out for us."

The Multicultural Council is head of the resettlement committee that was established shortly after the announcement that Moose Jaw would receive refugees.

Palmer says with new comers there are a few obstacles but the most often obstacle that they struggle with is communication.

"You know we get through it, we use plain language, we find other ways to communicate. That would probably be our biggest challenge, and if that's our biggest challenge I think we're doing a good job."
