Chris Costley, chief administrative officer of the town of Mossbank was presently surprised recently when he received a $4000 donation from the local charity The Justinsane Club.

"They typically do donate their proceeds to local initiatives but I didn't know that they would be donating to us on that night."

Mossbank's town council has already resolved to use the funds to enhance the community's early childhood and education program, Tot's Spot. The group meets weekly in the local Legion Hall and the town plans to construct a new entrance and deck on the building's north side. This will allow the kids a safer and more convenient way of entering the adjacent park directly from the hall.

"They've been a big supporter of this community," says Costley, "We're thankful to have them."

The family behind The Justinsane Club raises funds annually in memory of their son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, Justin Kowalski. Kowalski was killed by a drunk driver in 2014, and spokesperson for the club, Kari Wolitski, says this is their way of keeping his memory alive.

"We want people to remember how he died, so that other people will think twice about going out like that. Everything is for him and in his name."

The group sell's memberships and t-shirts to cover their admin costs. but all the money they raise through their annual car show and barbie car race goes towards recreational initiatives in Mossbank and Assiniboia. Wolitski says that the choice to give to recreational facilities was due to Kowalsk'si avid involvement in hockey.

"We wanted to give the money to something that Justin would approve of."

The Club has previously donated over $13,000 towards the town's pool renovations.
