The federal government announced Tuesday at the House of Commons they will be investing $4 million towards Lyme Disease research.

They're hoping the funding will aid in the treatment and a better understanding, for the growing number of cases with a new research network framework coming into play.

Lyme Disease is passed along to people through infected ticks who bite their skin.

There were more than 900 cases reported in 2015, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada, up from from 140 cases in 2009.
