Have you talked to your family about organ donation?

That was one of the goals of the 3rd annual Transplant Trot, held this past weekend. Participants were able to walk or run in 3k, 5k, and 10k events.

Organizer Kevin Gadd is very familiar with the issue of organ donation, as he received a double lung transplant. It truly changed his life.

"I had just learned to live with it. Before, I couldn't play sports, I couldn't do any physical. I'd walk a block and be tired. Now, I can do anything I want. I can go play floor hockey, I can participate in this event. I don't have any limitations anymore."

Clarence Pilon is from Prince Albert and has been helping out at events like these for years. Though he was hoping there would be a Transplant Trot in Regina this year, he was happy to come to Moose Jaw and help out because of how important organ donation is.

"For me, I think any day we can spend bringing awareness to organ and donor awareness is a good day," Pilon said. "For us, it means that we don't need to touch everybody at this event. We just have to touch one person and hopefully that one person will save somebody's life."

Transplant Trot's goal is to get people talking about organ donation by having the conversation with family members and obtaining the sticker to place on their health card. It also raises funds for the Canadian Transplant Association.
