It was in 1980 that the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope originally took place, and now - 39 years later, that marathon will continue Sunday at Elks Field.

Whether you want to walk, run, rollerblade, or ride your bike, everyone is welcome to join for the Terry Fox Run. The event is open to all ages and will have a 2km and 5km route to choose from.

Event organizer Craig Hemingway,

"Of course Terry's legacy was 'give what you can'. There is no minimum donation for the Terry Fox Run, it is not a race. Its called a run but you can walk it, take the pet or the dog for a walk, bring the strollers and the family, bring everyone out!"

The day kicks off at Elks Field at 10:30 with registration. The run begins at 11:30, followed by a BBQ, games, bouncy castles and more.

"He ran rain or shine, he attempted to run across Canada no matter the weather. So we will go no matter the weather."

A number of fundraisers have already taken place to raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation, with another one taking place on Friday, a barbeque, at the Moose Jaw Coop from 11-2. All funds raised from the Bobby's Place trivia night, the barbeques and the event on Sunday will be going toward the foundation to help aid cancer research.
