2018 has been a terrible year for workplace safety in Saskatchewan. Statistics released this week by the Saskatchewan Workers Compensation Board show that between January 1st and September 1st of this year, there were 37 workplace fatalities across the province.

According to 15 year average from the WCB, there is typically an average of 37 workplace deaths for an entire year in the province with several months left to report on for 2018. According to the report, the province has already seen 10 more workplace-related deaths in 2018 than in 2017.

The leading cause of workplace fatalities in Saskatchewan are occupational disease/exposure and motor vehicle-related incidents.
