On the evening of Saturday, May 5th, four Moose Jaw Firefighters, along with a coworkers and family, will be taking part in the 2nd annual SPFFA Fire in the Kitchen cook off.

Each year, the event brings together firefighters, dispatchers and paramedics from across the province to compete against each other while raising funds for the provincial burn fund, which supports patients undergoing treatment or care during the rehabilitation process.

Ryan Hopkinson, Burn Fund Chairman for the Moose Jaw Fire Department talked about what the competition will look like on Saturday.

"There is going to be six teams from across the province firefighters and paramedics there is going to be a bunch of different rounds of cooking and each round there will be celebrities doing some judging and see where everyone is sitting and from there determine who are the winners."

"The money raised from this goes to the Saskatchewan Burn Fund and that's one of our major fundraising efforts we put into every year is putting money towards SPFFA burn fund". Stated Hopkinson

Treatment is near and dear to any first-responder and this especially rings true for Firefighters.

"The burn fund is very important because it is set up to support burn survivors as well as continued education for doctors and nurses in the province and money also goes to the burn units in Regina and Saskatoon as well as sending burn survivors to camps and additional awareness for burn support."

The cook off takes place in Saskatoon on Saturday (May 5th).
