One death and 211 new cases of COVID-19 were announced Thursday, with seven of those being in the south-central region.

142 recoveries were also announced. 

The one resident who had tested positive for COVID-19 and died was in the 80 plus age group from the northwest zone.

Of the new cases, 80 are in Regina, 37 in Saskatoon, 24 are in the far northwest, 16 are in the northwest, 13 are in the central-east, seven in the south-central zone, six in the far north-central, five in the north-central, five in the central-west, four in the southeast, three in the far northeast, three in the northeast, and one in the southwest. Seven cases are pending resident information.

1,493 cases are considered active.

Of the 28 cases considered active in the south-central zone, 26 are located in the sub-region 'south-central 2' which is made up of Moose Jaw and the surrounding area. 

156 people are in hospital with 138 receiving inpatient care and 18 are in intensive care.

There were 2,057 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered Wednesday in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 65,436.

The 2,057 doses were administered in the Far North Central (30), North West (6), North East (10), Saskatoon (351), Central East (13), Regina (1,197), South Central (134) and South East (316) zones. On February 23, an additional 16 doses were administered in the Far North West zone and an additional 18 doses were administered in the Central East zone.

As of Wednesday, 85 per cent of long-term care residents have received their first dose and 49 per cent have received both their first and second doses and are now fully vaccinated.
