The Moose Jaw Warriors will receive a big boost to their blue-line this weekend as 18-year-old defenceman Jett Woo is set to make his season debut.

Woo missed the Warriors' first four regular season games with a lower-body injury, but he has been a full participant in practice this week and should be ready to go for Friday's meeting with the Brandon Wheat Kings.

"I feel great, I feel ready to go," said Woo.

Woo has been held out of most of the team’s activities since training camp and wasn't able to hit the ice during his first training camp with the Vancouver Canucks.

He said that was disappointing, but will be motivation to push even harder now that he’s ready for game action.

"Obviously not being able to participate in some of the things in training camp and go through that and the preseason and see all the things that I missed, but I'm ready to go and that's something that's just going to fuel my fire throughout the year," said Woo.

Adding a player of Woo's calibre into the lineup is big for the Warriors as they look to improve on their 1-2-1-0 record to start the regular season.

Head coach Tim Hunter said they're expecting a lot from Woo, who is entering his third season in the WHL.

"We're looking forward to having Jett play, he's going to be a big part of our team this year, he's going to be a leader back there and that was part of us being able to move Brandon (Schuldhaus) to Saskatoon was getting Jett back in the lineup," said Hunter.

Woo had nine goals and 25 points in 44 games last season for the Warriors before being selected by the Canucks with the 37th overall selection in the 2018 NHL Draft.

He said he's ready to make an impact for the Warriors this season, "I had a great offseason with all the things that learned at my first development camp as well as with Hockey Canada, so I'm going to take those things and try to bring them to the team here and use my leadership qualities and do as much as I can to help the team," said Woo.

The Warriors won their first game of the season last Sunday in Regina and now they get another shot at the Wheat Kings on Friday after losing to them twice on the opening weekend two weeks ago.

Hunter said the Warriors have looked good this week in practice as they get ready to battle Brandon.

"Winning in Regina was big, we've been close in all games and now we get a big test, we've lost to Brandon a number of games in a row going back to preseason, so we'd like to get a win against Brandon here at home," said Hunter.

The Warriors and Wheat Kings face-off at 7 p.m. on Friday night. The Pre-Game Show will be on the air at 6:40 p.m. on County 100.

The Swift Current Broncos come to Mosaic Place on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
