All four schools that hit the court in the Moose Jaw High School Senior Basketball League walked away with a victory on Tuesday night.

The Peacock Toilers and Central Cyclones split their first meetings of the season, while the Vanier Vikings won and the Spirits lost against the Caronport Cougars during the second league night of the season.

The league will wrap-up the pre-Christmas schedule next Tuesday with four more games.

At Peacock, the Cyclones scored a 77-55 win over the Toilers in the boys game to start the night.

Kyle Boughen led all scorers with 21 points in the win, while Riley Seaborn added 16 points for the Cyclones. Riley Herridge paced the Toilers’ attack with 17 points, while Jett Kowalchuk added 13.

The win puts Central’s record at 2-0 to start the year, while Peacock drops to 0-1.

In the girls game, the Toilers rolled to a 77-32 win that included a 20-0 run to start the game.

Peacock’s Piper Ingalls had a big game with 26 points in the win, while Katherine McDougall added 15 for the Toilers.  Ashlyn Jesse and Kirstie Johnstone scored six each in the loss for Central.

The win gives Peacock a 1-0 start to the year, while Central drops to 1-1.

Peacock will travel to Assiniboia to face the Rockets next Tuesday, while Central hosts Vanier.

Out in Caronport, the Vanier Vikings opened the night with a commanding 100-55 win over the host Cougars in the boys game.

Ronald Nyekowat scored 25 points to lead the Vikings to the win, while Javan Panko poured in 22 points to help pace the offensive attack. Elijah Buachie and Riley Follensbee had 11 points each in the win as well.

Caronport was led by Jude Shepherd-Hills as he picked up 19 points in the loss, while Breighdy Banerjee added 15.

In the girls game, the Cougars came out on top with a 61-57 win over the Spirits.

Mya Matthies had a big night with 27 points in the win, while Melissa Ellis added 14 points for the Cougars.  Kaili Flanagan had a team-high 15 points in the loss for Vanier, while Annah McDonald picked up 10 points.

The win improves Caronport’s record to 1-1 on the year, while Vanier drops to 0-2.

The Cougars are off now until Jan. 9, while Vanier returns to the court to face Central next Tuesday to close out the pre-Christmas schedule.  The boys game will be a first place showdown with both Vanier and Central sitting at 2-0.
