If the opening two games of the series are any indication, the Prince Albert Raiders and Edmonton Oil Kings are in for a battle in the WHL's Eastern Conference Final.

The Raiders took Game 1 of the best-of-seven series 1-0 on the back of a 26-save shutout from goalie Ian Scott. 17-year-old forward Ozzy Wiesblatt scored the lone goal for Prince Albert in the win.

Edmonton goalie Dylan Myskiw turned away 23 shots in the loss.

In Game 2 on Saturday, Edmonton rookie forward Jake Neighbours was the overtime hero, scoring with 5:11 left in the first extra period to lift the Oil Kings to a 4-3 win over the Raiders.

Neighbours is the first rookie to score two overtime winning goals in the WHL Playoffs since Brayden Point did it for the Warriors in 2012.

Noah Gregor and Justin Nachbaur scored in the opening 6:55 of the game for Prince Albert, but Matthew Robertson and Andrew Fyten would tie the game before the first was out.

Aliaksei Protas put the Raiders back in front just 2:47 into the third, but Trey Fix-Wolansky answered quickly for the Oil Kings only 2:51 later to tie the game.

Edmonton outshot Prince Albert for the second straight night, 34-29, in the win.

The two sides meet for Game 3 on Tuesday in Edmonton.

Over in the Western Conference, the Vancouver Giants have a 2-0 series lead on the Spokane Chiefs after winning both games on home ice.

Lukas Svejkovsky, Dawson Holt, Owen Hardy and Bowen Byram scored for the Giants in Friday’s 4-1 win in Game 1.

On Saturday, Craven’s Jared Dmytriw scored twice, including the game-winner, for the Giants during a four-goal third period as they came back to beat the Chiefs, 4-2, in Game 2. Holt and Yannik Valenti also scored in the win.
