The Moose Jaw Atom AA Warriors had a shot at first place in the South East Minor Hockey League on Wednesday, but couldn’t find the win column in a 6-2 loss to the Broncos in Swift Current.

The loss was just the fourth this season for Moose Jaw, who now sits three points back of Swift Current for top spot in the league.

Swift Current scored 29 seconds into the game, but Jackson Folliott was able to tie the game up with 7:18 remaining in the first. The Broncos struck right back with Parker Rondeau scoring only 2:10 later to make it 2-1 after one.

Two Broncos’ goals in the second period gave them some breathing room going into the third.

A goal from Moose Jaw’s Gage Nagel with 7:34 left cut Swift Current’s lead in half, but they added two late goals to seal the win.

The Warriors are now 13-4-1 on the year. They’re off until next weekend when they host Estevan for a pair of games.
