The Moose Jaw High School Junior Basketball League hit the court for four games around the city on Wednesday night.

The lone boys game saw the Vanier Red Vikings cruise to an 87-43 win over the Peacock Green Toilers. The win pushes Vanier Red into first place with a 5-0 record, while Peacock Green falls to 3-2 with the loss.

Rayann Cabral led all scorers with 18 points in the win for Vanier Red, while Kyle Gotana chipped in with 17 and Nathan Meili had 15. Devin Baumann was Peacock Green’s top scorer with 12 in the loss.

Three girls games hit the court, including the Peacock Toilers improving to 4-0 with a 57-31 win over the Central Butte Bulldogs.

Caitlyn Johnson paced the Toilers’ attack with 18 points, while Caitlin Miller added 14 points. Calsy Marzolf led Central Butte with 11 points in the loss.

The Vanier Spirits were able to keep pace with the Toilers for top spot thanks to a 47-25 win over the Riverview Royals. The win improves Vanier to 3-2, while Riverview falls to 1-3.

Vanier’s top scorer was Kyra Lynch, who scored a game-high 14 points in the win, while Jewellyn McDonald added 13 points. Kirsten Hunter had seven points in the loss for Riverview.

There was no score reported from the meeting between the Central Cyclones and Cornerstone Falcons.
