The Original 16 Cash League was back on the pebbled ice for its weekly eight-game slate at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre on Wednesday night.

Penny Barker and company continue to lead the pack as they improved to 9-1 on the year with a hard fought 5-4 win over the Ryan Wenarchuk rink, who dropped to 7-4 with the loss.

The middle ends were the difference for Barker as they scored one in the third and then stole three in the fourth and picked up one more in the fifth, which turned out to be the winning point.

Three teams are keeping pace with the Barker rink right now. Stan Barnsley’s squad improved to 8-2 with a 9-4 win over Wade Gray (3-8); the Joel Joridson rink pushed their record to 8-2 with a 7-3 victory over Bob Desjarlais (6-4); and the Warren Marcotte rink sits at 8-2 after scoring a 6-2 win over Shaunna Fritzler (1-9).

In other action on Wednesday, Lorraine Arguin (6-4) won 6-3 over Ralph Courtnage (4-6); Joe Gunnis (4-6) cruised to a 10-6 win over Donna Ackerman (3-7); Ben Gamble (5-5) shutout Barb Wallace (2-9), 8-0; and Murray Stroeder (6-5) also picked up a 6-0 shutout win over Patrick Ackerman (2-8).

The league hits the ice every Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
