The Moose Jaw Warriors have picked up a pair of 17 year olds from Belarus in the CHL import draft Thursday morning.

Their first pick ended up being 52nd overall, taking forward Daniil Stepanov, a 6’0”, 168lbs left winger who played last season with Team Belarus U18 and had three goals and 20 points in 31 games. He was an underage player for Belarus at the 2018 IIHF World Under-18 Championships.

The Warriors closed out the Import Draft by selecting Yegor Buyalsky 77th overall. Buyalsky, 6’0”, 157lbs, played last season with Team Belarus U17 and had 19 goals, 29 assists, and 48 points in 49 games. He was a member of Belarus’s team that competed at the 2018 Mac’s Tournament in Calgary and finished the event with five goals and six points in six games.

Saint John kicked off the draft with the top pick overall taking Maxim Cajkovic, a 5'11'', 187 pound winger from Slovakia. Edmonton picked second and had the first pick of any WHL team, taking 6' tall, 168 pound left winger Vladimir Alistrov from Belarus.
