The Moose Jaw Warriors were able to get some rest on Thursday after playing nine periods of hockey over two days against the Swift Current Broncos.

The Eastern Conference semifinal series between the two East Division rivals has been a back-and-forth affair with neither team winning back-to-back games yet.

The past two games have went to overtime, including a double overtime thriller in Game 4, which the Broncos took 3-2 to tie the series up at 2-2.

"That one was tough, there's tough games in playoffs, especially when you go to overtime, it's not a good feeling losing one of those games, but we know what we need to do for Game 5, we have Thursday to rest and recover and we're going to be ready for Friday," said forward Justin Almeida, who has six goals and 13 points for the Warriors in the playoffs.

In Wednesday's Game 4, the Broncos really upped the physical play, but the Warriors responded and showed that they can battle through that to keep their speed game going.

"They do play tough, but every playoff game is tight checking," he said. "You've got to find your way to battle through and we've battled through here and we've had a chance to win every game, so that's all we can ask for."

These two teams have laid everything on the line over the first four games and with the series down to a best-of-three, the Warriors know that the games are only going to get tighter moving forward.

Which ever team is willing to go that extra inch is the one that’s going to move onto the conference final.

"It's about what you're going to do to get that one inch of ice that can change the game, so I think we have the will and we work hard every night for that," said Almeida.

The Warriors feel like they've been able to out-play the Broncos at 5-on-5 in the series so far, but Swift Current has won the special teams battle with five of their 13 goals, including two in each of the past two games, coming on the power play. Moose Jaw went 0-for-5 with the man advantage in Game 4.

In order to have the success that they're looking for, the Warriors will need to win the special teams battle going forward.

"Special teams can change playoff series, so when we get a power play we've got to capitalize because it could change a game and for them, they have a good power play, so we've got to stay disciplined and when we do get on the kill, we've got to be sharp," said Almeida.

With only standing room tickets available, another sold-out crowd is expected at Mosaic Place for Friday's Game 5 and that will provide a boost for the Warriors after playing two games in hostile territory in Swift Current.

"We get good crowds here and they're really into the game, so as a player, you feed off that energy," said Almeida.

The Warriors and Broncos hit the ice for Game 5 at 7 p.m. Friday night. The Pre-Game Show will be on the air at 6:40 p.m. on Country 100.

The series will shift to Swift Current for Game 6 on Saturday and if necessary, Game 7 will be back in Moose Jaw on Monday.
