The Moose Jaw Warriors feel that they’re among the best teams in the Western Hockey League and their record shows it with the fourth-best winning percentage in the league.

"It’s funny, people think of us as a team that’s rebuilding and things like that, but we’re right there with the other teams in the standings and just as capable of dominating a game as well," said Warriors defenceman Jett Woo after practice on Thursday.

The Warriors will have the opportunity to prove that they deserve to be in the conversation for the best in the league when they take on two of the best this weekend.

Moose Jaw (20-8-5-1) makes its first trip to Prince Albert this season where they’ll face off with the CHL-leading Raiders (34-3-0-1) and then, they host the Portland Winterhawks (21-11-3-2), who sit second in the tough U.S. Division, on Saturday at Mosaic Place.

"These are two teams that we can show the whole league what we’re made of, so we’ve just got to stick to our game and we’ll be alright," said Woo.

Since coming out of the Christmas break, the Warriors have won three straight and have points in all four games.

Woo said the Warriors have progressively gotten stronger as they went through their four games in five nights last week.

"Coming back and quickly having those four games, getting our legs under us and doing well in those games is huge for us in the second half," he said. "We’re off to a good start and hopefully we just keep it going."

Friday night will be just the third meeting of the season for the Warriors against the Raiders and the first since Oct. 24 when Prince Albert handed Moose Jaw a 4-2 loss at Mosaic Place.

Woo said the Warriors head into the Art Hauser Centre confident that they can return the favour, "They’re the top dog right now, the best team in the CHL, but every time that we’ve played, we stuck with them until the third period, so hopefully we go into these games and remember that, take what we learned and put it to good use."

The Warriors and Raiders hit the ice at 7 p.m. on Friday night in Prince Albert. You can catch all the action live on Country 100, starting with the Pre-Game Show at 6:40 p.m.

Moose Jaw returns home on Saturday to host Friendly City product Reece Newkirk and the Portland Winterhawks. Puck drops on that one at 7 p.m.
