Brody Willms made 27 saves on Friday for his second shutout of the season, leading the Moose Jaw Warriors to a 3-0 win over the Red Deer Rebels at the Enmax Centrium.

Throughout the first period, both teams had their chances to pop the game’s first goal, but they were denied by goalies Brody Willms and Riley Lamb.
Moose Jaw outshot the Rebels, 8-6, in the opening period and both teams went 0-for-2 on the power play in the period.

On the power play at 6:19, the Warriors picked up the game’s first goal. Off the faceoff in the right circle, the Warriors dug the puck to the blueline for Noah Gregor, who quickly swung in to the left side for Josh Brook, Brook let a quick shot go, Lamb made the initial save but the rebound came right to Captain Brett Howden who tucked in his 12th goal of the season.

Throughout the rest of the second period, the teams exchanged opportunities and the Warriors were able to add to their lead with 13 seconds left.

Howden picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and drove inside the Rebels line, he dropped the puck to Tanner Jeannot, who skated to the left faceoff dot and snapped a beautiful shot far side over the glove of Lamb to give Moose Jaw a 2-0 lead on his 22nd goal of the year.

In the third period, the Rebels outshot the Warriors, 10-6, but Moose Jaw buckled down to limit Red Deer’s quality scoring opportunities and when they created a great chance Willms was able to shut the door.

In the final two minutes of the game, Red Deer pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, but the move backfired as Jayden Halbgewachs scored his 30th goal of the season in to an empty net which extended his point streak to 17 games.

In the end Brett Howden had a goal and two points and Brody Willms made 27 saves to lead the Warriors to their 24th win of the season, extending their point streak to ten games.
