The Moose Jaw Warriors are getting set to open their 2018 training camp this week at Mosaic Place.

There will be 83 players in total taking part in the four-day camp, which hits the ice starting on Thursday with rookie camp.

"It's always an exciting time of the year," said Warriors general manager Alan Millar. "It's always a time of year with a lot of optimism in terms of new players coming to town, seeing where their development is, how your team is shaping up, getting your scouting staff in town and working together to build the present team and the future."

Rookie camp will feature 50 players, including seven of nine from the Warriors' 2018 WHL Bantam Draft class. Defenceman Corson Ceulemans, a 2018 fifth round pick, and forward Trey Fechko, a ninth-round selection, won't be at the camp.

With the news that 20-year-old goalie Brody Willms is out for the season, the Warriors will have four goalies at main camp, including returnee Adam Evanoff, draft picks Ethan Fitzgerald and Jackson Berry, as well as 20-year-old Brodan Salmond.

Salmond spent the past three seasons with the Kelowna Rockets. He had a 13-10-1 record with a 3.67 goals against average and .880 save percentage in 2017-18.

The Warriors will have 12 players returning from the 2017-18 team. The camp will feature three 1998-born players, four 1999 born players, 11 2000 born players, 12 2001 born players, 23 born in 2002, and 30 players were born in 2003.
