Moose Jaw Warriors coach Mark O'Leary and Canada Red are moving onto the semifinals at the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in New Brunswick.
O'Leary, who's serving as an assistant coach at the tournament, and Canada Red knocked off the United States, 2-1 in overtime, in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Moncton Wildcats forward Elliot Desnoyers was the hero for Canada Red, as he scored game-winning goal 4:34 into overtime.
Canada Red is the only one of the three Canadian national teams to advance into the final four. They will face Finland in the semifinals at 5 p.m. on Friday, while the other semifinal will have Russia going head-to-head with Sweden at 1 p.m.
The medal games are on Saturday.
Warriors defenceman Daemon Hunt and Canada Black lost 4-2 to Sweden in the quarterfinals, while Canada White dropped a 4-3 game in a shootout to Finland.
Canada Black and Canada White meet in a placement game on Friday at 2 p.m.
